Chance are you already know this, but I ...Hi Emma,<br /><br />Chance are you already know this, but I thought I'd chip in just in case :-)<br /><br />There are good alternatives to disposables for women's sanitary products as well as for babies' nappies. You can get cloth pads to use in place of disposable pads and, just like cloth nappies, they're much prettier and much more comfortable than disposables. If you prefer tampons then you can replace them with either natural sea sponges (which you can use for about 6 - 10 months and then compost when it starts to disintegrate) or a silicone menstrual cup such as the moon cup or the diva cup which will last decades.
